Primary School Project Works

A number of parents have asked about the works undertaken during the school holidays. Part of the slab for the new building has been poured and significant works related to the relocation of services (including water, fire main, electrical, gas and data) were undertaken as part of the Stage 1 Primary school project but more importantly are part of the 20 year strategic plan for future building works. These extensive works significantly upgrade the College services. Although it may appear that only some progress has been made on the new building it is always important to ensure the foundations for the new build are strong. Further activity will see the building appear out of the ground in the next month or so.

Naidoc Week

First Nation people have occupied and cared for the land we call Australia for over 60000 years. NAIDOC week fell in the school holidays but none-the-less it is important to appreciate and understand our Aboriginal cultures, languages and histories. The theme this year is 'Heal Country', heal our nation. This means it is important to acknowledge and hear about the experiences of our First Peoples. Story telling is part of developing understanding. Having an open mind, being respectful and hearing the stories is crucial for making us one nation of many peoples.

Annual Report

The 2020 Annual Report is on the College website and a hard copy is also available from Reception.

 International Accelium Olympics

Our students at all year levels are able to engage in extension programs in areas of interest through the Extension Programs ably led by Mrs Mary Ann Di Martino. This year a team of Year 7-9 students competed in the International Accelium Olympics for critical thinking and problem-solving. 152 schools across 21 countries took part in this online global tournament. The task involved students working through a series of challenges in game-based scenarios. Students needed to use critical thinking skills to solve problems. Our students achieved first place in Australia and first in the world. A great achievement and exciting news to share with our community.

Brookhill Athletics

The Senior school students were eventually able to have their Athletics carnival on Thursday 15 July. The sun shone which allowed for some exciting competition between the houses.

College Musical

I encourage you to attend this year’s College Musical, 'The Addams Family'. The students and staff have been rehearsing all year and the finishing touches are being put in place to create a wonderful performance full of great singing, dancing and special ghoulish effects.  Tickets are available on TryBooking.

Year 9 Service Project

Year 9 students completed their service projects last semester and many had the opportunity to showcase their work at the 'Funhelen' day on Thursday 15 July. This new and innovative program had a write up in the recent Educator magazine, see attached article. Great work being done by students and their mentors.
