Principal Report
Oatlands from My Point of View
Matthew Kenny – Assistant Principal
Only a couple of days remain in what has been another very interesting term for us all. While the term has not been without disruption, it has been a largely successful one in relation to student learning and wellbeing.
Remote Learning
Unfortunately, towards the end of the term we had another period of remote learning. While we are getting used to these, they do pose a unique challenge each time. The challenge to remain motivated and to stay positive was achieved by the vast majority of our community, which is a credit to our teachers and support staff, our parents and carers and of course our students. The most remarkable and most impressive thing about remote learning is how well our students transition back to the classroom. Well done everyone!
Cross Country
Cross Country is something that has been impacted heavily by the recent lockdown. As you know we were able to hold our trials and then a large group of Grade 4 – 6 students participated in the district competition. From there, two of our Grade 6 students, Ella and Kaitlyn qualified to compete at the division level. Unfortunately, this race was cancelled due to the lockdown, however all has not been lost. The next level of competition after division is regional and Ella and Kaitlyn will compete in the regional trials next term. All the best Ella and Kaitlyn!
Reports and Parent Teacher Meetings
This week Student Reports for Semester 1 were released and Parent Teacher meetings held via WebEx. I trust that you found your child’s report insightful and easy to comprehend. Thank you for adapting to a new way of booking meetings through Compass and for your understanding of our need to conduct meetings via WebEx.
Wishing all Oatlands’ families the very best for the school holiday period. I hope you are all able to rest and enjoy the 2 weeks, and possibly even get away for a few days. See you back ready to go next term.
