During the last lockdown in Melbourne (Lockdown 4), the Library staff decided to genrefy the Library. This means that we have organised the books according to their genre classification. The genres include: fantasy, mystery, dystopia, romance, mystery, adventure, just to name a few. The books are still shelved according to the author’s surname but now, within their genre.We have had a great response to this from the students. They are finding it easier to browse and like the look of this new arrangement. All the books have stickers which identify their genre and we have new signage to display the genre locations.

We have continued to see an increase in the borrowing of all the resources through the Library. We remind you once again that e-books and audio books can be a great option for reading during lockdown.It is also a good time to join your local library. This is free and can be done online. Some libraries offer a click and collect service, and all have a wide range of resources available, including online activities, story readings, author talks, book clubs etc. Look up the library in your council area and take advantage of this free service.
