Student Excellence

It’s a big term for the Student Excellence program!

Mindstorm students are ramping up their knowledge with their competition date looming. Students are needing all the math and designs skills they can immerse themselves in to be successful on the day.

The Grade 3 cohort have a busy term with both a literacy and maths focus.

Mrs Perera will be working with selected students to work on reciprocal reading as a structured method of reading. Children will be gradually taught to take on group roles to explore and find meaning in texts. Reciprocal Teaching emphasises teamwork and supports independent comprehension skills.

Mr Schultz and selected Grade 3 students will been using Sphero's to take their Maths to the next level. The students are block coding to problem solve and collaborate to overcome mathematical challenges. The students will continue to explore and expand on their skills as they work towards entering the Sphero Global Challenge.

As well as these programs, Grade 4 students will be working with Tony to build a vertical garden. This will be built between the portables in the existing outdoor garden space. Learning outcomes consist of using addition and subtraction linked in with length, area and perimeter.
