STEM Report

Term 3

Welcome back to another term in STEM.  Term 3 will see students undertaking fresh new topics from a variety of Science subjects. Check out the topics below to see what we are up to.

Prep students will be looking at the world of Earth Science and learning about times and events in the day. They will work towards identifying events that occur at different times of the day and understand how daily events may affect their choices.

Grade 1 students will focus on the world of Earth Science this term and explore changes that occur in the world around us.  They will investigate changes that occur in objects, weather and seasons throughout the year.

Grade 2 students will explore the Biological Science unit of work titled 'Growing Up'. In this topic, students will investigate how living things grow and change. They will identify changes that occur in an organisms life cycle and make connections between offspring and parents.

Grade 3 students  will focus on the world of Physical Science this term with their topic on 'Heat'. In this unit of work, students will investigate different sources of heat and use their practical skills to measure heat in both, formal and informal experiments.

Grade 4 students will explore the world of Physical Science this term in their unit of work titled, 'May the Force be with you'. Students will investigate different types of forces and learn how forces can be used to move, stop and change direction of objects.

Grade 5 students will focus their attention to the world of Physical Science this term in their unit of work on Electricity. They will investigate simple electrical circuits and identify components that can be used together when creating their own devices.

Grade 6 students will shine their spotlight on the Biological world of microorganisms this term. They will identify the survival needs of living things and investigate how environmental factors such as temperature and salinity can affect the function of microorganisms.

Now, lets get started!
