Lights, Camera ... ROXY!

Term 3 in Performing Arts at RPPS!

Foundation & Grade 1 students have been focusing on emotions! We have been talking about different emotions, and over the next few weeks will be exploring how they are represented and communicated in music, drama and dance.

Grade 2 students have been recording the raps they created about themselves, showing off their rhythm and timing skills. This allowed them to see sound being recorded and learn a little bit about sound waves and waveform, which will lead into our next topic - The Science of Sound.

Grade 3 & 4 students have been continuing their ukulele learning journey. They have worked hard to master some chords - A minor, C major, F major  and even G major - and will be starting to focus on song structure, arranging and composing in the coming weeks. They will also have the opportunity to practise their acting skills when we begin a unit on Tableau ("living pictures") later in the term.

Grades 5 & 6 students have started Term 3 with a focus on improvisation skills, starting each lesson with a game of Space Jump. They will be working on drama elements of situation, voice and movement throughout the term. They have also been continuing their learning on the ukulele, mastering five chords which will enable them to move further towards performing as a class band with a range of instruments.

Ukulele Club!

This term, students in grades 3 to 6 will have a chance to join the Ukulele Club! It will be an opportunity to further develop their skills, have fun playing songs with other students, and even perform for an audience! Details on the day and time (either recess or lunch) the club will run each week will be communicated once we're back at school. Any interested students can come and see me.
