Year 3 Report
Term 3
Welcome back to Term 3! We hope you all had a relaxing break and are ready for some great learning. Unfortunately this isn't the best start to the term, but the students are doing an amazing job with remote learning and we could not be prouder. Hopefully we will all be back together in the classroom soon 🤞
Mathematics
This term in mathematics we will begin by focusing on multiplication and division. We will look at different ways to represent our multiplication equations, helping to deepen our understanding of exactly what multiplication is. There will be a heavy focus on our times tables so any practice you can do at home would be an amazing help. This knowledge of our times tables will make it so much easier for us when we are solving multiplication problems. By the end of this year we want to know our 2's, 5's, 10's and 3's off by heart.
In the second half of the term we will look at telling time to the nearest minute, counting coins and measuring mass and capacity.
Literacy
This term in literacy we will be focusing on Information Reports. We will begin by reading a variety of different reports, focusing on the features that are included such as headings, sub headings, introductions and conclusions. We will also look at the different language features used when writing an information report. We will identify these features as we explore examples of different reports before using these features to create our own report on a topic of our choice. We will publish our information reports making sure we include other features such as diagrams, labels and photographs.
Along side our work on information reports, we will continue to focus on our reading stamina. We have worked hard on this all year and have seen some amazing progress so we are excited to see our continued progress this term.
Inquiry
This term we will look at places around us. We will start by looking at Australia as a whole country, then work our way down to focus on our state of Victoria. We will look at the features of the state, both natural and man made putting our new knowledge together to create a presentation at the end of the topic.
