Remote and Flexible Learning
As we are back again facing a lockdown, I wanted to provide the information that was in the newsletter back in Term 3 about remote and flexible learning. Once again, I would like to thank our wonderful students, families and staff for supporting each other through this time.
We understand that families are facing the many challenges of assisting children with remote and flexible learning, while trying to continue with work and responsibilities. It is so important to take care and do only what you can manage. Our teachers and support staff are all working very hard to engage your child/children with remote learning materials, however we understand that some days will be easier than others.
As a school, having manoeuvred our way through lockdowns in 2020 and 2021 so far, we have been able to extensively trial programs, gather data and listen to feedback from students, families and teachers to determine the model of remote and flexible learning that best suits the majority of our school community.
At Rangeview we are using a model of some synchronous learning and some asynchronous learning for the students. Families manage this in many different ways to best suit them. We have a large number of families that are supporting their children to access the learning at different times of the day with some children participating in the activities entirely outside of school hours.
In a regular week when learning onsite, students have a 45-minute session of each of the specialist subjects of Music, Art, Physical Education and German. This week our specialist teachers will post specialist activities on Seesaw from Wednesday. Students may complete these on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
Our classroom teachers are continuing with the important programs of Literacy, Numeracy, Inquiry and Wellbeing throughout the week.
The Department of Education has provided some valuable updated advice on supporting children to learn from home.
Our school website also has some wonderful links to home learning resources.
As we wait for announcements and look forward to returning to regular onsite schooling, be kind to yourselves, take a breath and cherish the moments together.
