EMAIL NOT TO BE USED TO CHANGE DAILY ATTENDANCES

EMAIL TO BE USED FOR changing permanent bookings, making advanced bookings or cancellations  (such as for holiday program, school closure days), account queries, addressing special needs, incidents that need clarification, and the like.

Emails are not checked prior to a session as administrative duties are addressed off site and away from the service, as our priority is the active supervision of children, their development and wellbeing.

However, if children ever find themselves confused, not knowing where they're supposed to be, please have a "back up plan" by stating they can always go to after care and together we can resolve their situation. This is an important aspect of children’s 'belonging, being and becoming' which involves learning independence and coping skills. OSHC is  available to provide a secure base as needed.

Sunsmart

With Term 4 upon us we remind families that students should be wearing a sun smart hat when playing outside. Parents must provide a spare hat for OSHC should their school hat be unavailable. We also encourage students to BYO sunscreen and stay hydrated by providing a water bottle.

Educator training and education

First aid

St Finbar’s OSHC comply with current First Aid regulations and are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment and recognise our responsibility to adequately manage for the immediate treatment of injuries and illnesses.

On Saturday 12/10/19 all core OSHC staff participated in refreshing their knowledge in CPR (HLTAID001) Anaphylaxis (22300VIC) and Asthma (22282VIC) training.

Be you, Beyond Blue

‘Be You’ promotes mental health and wellbeing from the early years to 18, and offers educators and learning communities evidence-based online professional learning, complemented by a range of tools and resources to turn learning into action. It helps develop valuable mental health skills and knowledge, while also providing an effective model for implementing a whole-learning community approach to mental health and wellbeing.

St Finbar’s OSHC educators are systematically completing online training and learning modules as part of their Professional Development Plans and to enhance their knowledge and understanding of how to promote mental health.

Complying with the Child Safe Standards

It has been over three years since the Child Safe Standards (the Standards) commenced on 1 January 2016. The focus then was on raising awareness of the Standards by providing education and training to help organisations create and maintain child safe environments and work towards compliance with the Standards.

The purpose of the Standards is to drive cultural change in organisations working with children by focusing on risk awareness and risk management. The compulsory framework promotes the safety of children, implementing policies to prevent, recognise, respond to and report allegations of child abuse.

As part of our continuous improvement plan and in addition to  providing a child safe environment, the Educational Leader/Nominated Supervisor  will engage in further training  during November and has subscribed to receive information and updates from the Commission for Children and Young People.

Administrative changes for OSHC

In an effort to allow parents to pay their OSHC fees in smaller, easy to manage payments, St Finbar’s OSHC will introduce 'debit success'.  It will offer parents an opportunity to nominate an account and appropriate day of payment. The service will pay certain fees and charges which are fair and equitable and in line with our current applications.

Debit Success requires ALL families to be signed up and ready for the January Holiday program 2020.

Please see the table below.

A direct debit request form will be available along with the holiday program, as will a new CWA with the updated fee structure.  ALL forms will need to be completed, signed, and received by the end of term as current practices will cease.  Thank you in advance.

2020 Fees

In order to maintain our current staff and NQS rating, regretfully fees will increase in 2020.  This is due to a rise in minimum wages in July 2019. This rise also increased superannuation and insurance.  The fees are as follows:

Before School Care:   7.15 am - 8.45 am             $15.50

After School Care:       3.30 pm - 6.00 pm            $19.50

Holiday Program:        8.00 am - 6.00 pm            $42, with the cancellation of half days.

A short fee of half an hour will still apply;

3.30 - 4.00 pm and 8.15 am - 8.45 am                  $9.00

In comparison to other OSHC providers in the area, St Finbar's OSHC fees are considerably less, with some services charging $27.50 - $37.00 per child per afternoon and $62.00 - $90.00 for a holiday program.

All fees are subject to CCS (if families are eligible).  Thank you.
