Principal's Report

Welcome to the 2019 School Year.

I am delighted to have been appointed as the new Principal of Hampton Park Secondary College. My background as an educator has involved working as an educational leader in a variety of schools across Melbourne for 30 years. I have worked at Dandenong High School, Narre Warren South P-12, Keysborough College and Nossal High School. For the past 4 years, I have been Principal of Mount Alexander College (MAC) in Flemington. My work at MAC focused on embedding student –centred learning with a focus on authentic student empowerment and personalised learning pathways. All students are unique and different, with individual passions and needs as such schools need to make adjustments to accommodate this.

Sir Ken Robinson argues that our current education system is based on a 19th Century industrial model of education. However, we live in a world that is rapidly changing as such, schools should work towards enabling students to develop skills that will best prepare them for now and the future. The skills of creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and entrepreneurial skills enable young people to adapt and be successful in meeting the challenges of the 21st Century.

On Thursday 14th February at 9.30am, I wish to invite parents and caregivers to a Meet the Principal Morning Tea.

If you are able to join me at this time, please call the Office on 8795 9400 to confirm your attendance as this will assist with catering purposes.

I look forward to meeting and working with members of the HP community.
