Open Evening, Art and Design Exhibition, Twilight Concert and Director's Choice Concert

On a beautiful evening last week, we had a number of visitors to the College being taken on tours by student leaders across the College. Our students always do us proud in showing people around and describing the school environment. The Art and Design Exhibition showed the creative work completed by students from Prep to Year 12. Everyone finds a piece or pieces of work they enjoy; the sculptures were particularly intriguing. The Twilight Concert created a carnival atmosphere and it was great to see the family support for students. The Director’s Choice concert highlighted some outstanding performances. The musical for 2020 was revealed as 'The Addams Family' which should be great fun.

Senior School Students

Year 12 students are in the midst of VCE exams and the VCAL students have completed their certificates. We will be celebrating with the Class of 2019 at their Valedictory dinner in a couple of weeks. This is a special time as they graduate from their time at the College. Year 10 and Year 11 students will commence their exams at the end of next week. They should be completing final assessments and undertaking revision in preparation.

Scholarships

Interviews have been held in recent weeks for the College Foundation Scholarship and the Parents and Friends Scholarship.

Duplication of Mickleham and Somerton Roads

Please sign the E-petition which can be found at:

https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/council/petitions/electronic-petitions/view-e-petitions/details/12/129

Also encourage others you know. I met with the Roads Minister, Local Member and representatives from the Department of Transport and VicRoads again stressing the urgent need for duplication; particularly focusing on congestion, safety and liveability impacts on the local community including members of our school community.

College Works

Drainage work has commenced along the eastern boundary. This work will resolve some matters impacting the sports fields and is also in preparation for the temporary classrooms that will be brought on site mid-year.
