Art Excursion

On the 4th September, VCE Studio Art class had the opportunity to explore the NGV’s ‘A Fairy Tale in Red Times: Works from the White Rabbit Collection’ that included 26 contemporary Chinese artists internationally, that document the social changes in Chinese. Recording the sociocultural evolution of China has resulted in the merger of traditional Chinese culture and contemporary. Pre and post-Maoist regime was discussed by the students as they travelled through the gallery to not only experience the artworks but to analyse the curating decisions and how they influence the audience’s perception of the works. Discussing the intentions of the artists and the curators brought conversation of the placement of artworks, as this is a Unit for the year 12’s (Art Industry Context). For the Year 12 students this experience was crucial to their understanding to structural and theoretical arrangements made in art spaces.                                                                                                                                            Waad Salih (Year 12 Student)

Women of Troy (Euripides) - $20

Nine Days (Toni Jordan) - $23

Year 11 –

Montana 1948 (Larry Watson) - $15

VCAL Step Up

All Year 11 students who have enrolled in Year 12 VCAL in 2020, will be required to attend a compulsory Step Up program, commencing:

 - Mon Dec 2nd Dec to Thursday 12th Dec, 2019

Students should use this time to complete their Step Up tasks and to secure a work placement for 2020.

The purpose of the Step Up program is to introduce students to the rules and expectations governing the VCAL program as well as the expectations of Senior School.

The key learning focus of the VCAL Step Up program will be the introduction to Work Related Skills Unit 1 and the completion of associated tasks in preparation for the 2020 program and structured workplace learning.

It is compulsory and essential that your child attends this program, as they will be required to obtain an updated Safe@Work (General and Specific) qualification as well as complete a number of Outcomes for Work Related Skills Unit 1, which are compulsory for all students to have prior to attending structured work placement.  Students will also have the opportunity during this time to find a work placement for 2020.

Students will also be required to have secured a work placement for 2020 by this date also.
