Classroom News - Year 1

Literacy
We are now working on learning to read and spell our Set 9 Tricky words. It would be great to be practising these at home and revising all other Tricky words that we have already learnt. We have also been learning how to read and write words using the y and ey sounds.
Maths
In Mathematics we are working on skip counting and number patterns.
Science and Geography
In geography, we have been looking at maps this week. We have had a look at our school using satellite images from Google Maps and Google Earth. Feel free to have a play with these at home too!
Gymnastics
Gymnastics will continue until the end of term. We leave school at 11:50 on Fridays and get back in time for lunch.
St Joseph's Cup
Congratulations to Asha Gray (1F) and Milly Stace (1L) on making it to the St Joseph's Cup Finals. You both did such a great job speaking in front of a large audience. Miss Limen and Mrs Flynn are very proud of your efforts. Well Done!
No Big Talk Homework this week
There will be no Big Talk Homework this week as we will be doing what we call a "cold write". This allows us to see how students are progressing with their writing without any support.
We will still be expecting to see home readers on Thursday!
