SUN SMART POLICY

Students are required to wear hats during Terms 1 and 4 to ensure they are protected from the sun, especially during break times and subjects where students are outside such as Physical Education and Clubs. Please ensure your student has a St. Joseph’s College sun hat and is bringing it to school. School hats can be purchased from the Front Office and Hip Pocket for $15.

Students should also make a habit of checking the Sun Smart information provided on SIMON. For further information regarding this, please visit sunsmart.com.au

EARLY STUDENT DEPARTURE

If your student is required to leave school early for an appointment or significant reason, please send a note so your student can obtain a pink slip from their House Leader. Please understand that office staff are unable to make general announcements during class time as interruptions are limited.

If you need to contact your student during class times, it is recommended that you contact the office and they alert the relevant staff and your student as required.

UNIFORM

It is so wonderful to see the majority of our students wearing full school uniform. Please be advised that students are required to wear full school uniform each day. Sports uniform is only permitted on specified days, such as when there are practical sport sessions, Clubs or Drama.

SOCIAL MEDIA

It is a timely reminder to ensure that if your students have access to social media, that there are discussions around rules and social etiquette. At St. Joseph’s we encourage and teach our students to PAUSE (Is it Positive, Accurate, Useful, Supportive and Ethical?) before posting or sending.

It is important that we have regular conversations to assist our students in navigating social media and providing support and resources that enable them to develop and enhance their skills and be a positive force on social media platforms and in the online world.

Please remember that the minimum age for Social Media platforms is 13.

SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Supports) Launch

At the beginning of the year we launched our SWPBS Framework - ‘Respect, Commit, Be Grateful’ in House Assemblies and Learning Mentor Groups. This was a fantastic opportunity for staff to present the Matrix to all of our students and acknowledge the expected, proactive behaviours we expect to see and experience at St. Joseph’s College.

This was a fabulous way to launch our framework at the beginning of the year. Our students are resident experts on our behaviour expectations and how they work to provide the basis for our overall functioning and culture at St. Joseph’s College.
