Child Safe Standards

The Child Safe Standards commenced on 1 July 2022, replacing the Child Safe Standards that were established in 2016. There are 11 Child Safe Standards that aim to protect children and young people, by requiring organisations to put policies, procedures and processes in place to prevent and respond to abuse. The aim of these standards is to keep children and young people safe.

 

Standard 7: Processes for complaints and concerns are child-focused

 

Our school at a minimum will ensure:

  • we have accessible, child-focused complaint handling policy which clearly outlines the roles and responsibilities of leadership, staff and volunteers, approaches to dealing with different types of complaints, breaches of relevant policies or the Code of Conduct and obligations to act and report.
  • we have effective complaint handling processes are understood by children and young people, families, staff and volunteers, and are culturally safe.
  • that complaints are taken seriously and responded to promptly and thoroughly.
  • that we have policies and procedures in place that address reporting of complaints and concerns to relevant authorities, whether or not the law requires reporting, and co-operates with law enforcement.
  • that reporting, privacy and employment law obligations are met.

 

A reminder that photos taken of other students during presentations should not be posted on social media platforms unless permission has been given by the other parties involved.
