Principal's News

Dear Armadale Community,

I hope you are all well. That gastro bug is unfortunately doing the rounds at our school and once again I need to request that parents do not send children to school if they are at all unwell. This morning we had to send 2 Preps home who had been vomiting a few times and we will have to call you if children present with a chesty cough, sore throat; fever and a runny nose and it is very distressing for them to be at school and feeling unwell. The only way we can reduce the spread of viruses and infections is to not have unwell children sent to school. Thank you for assisting with this request.

The Year 5 student’s visit to Regis Aged Facility Armadale

A few week’s ago, the Year 5 students as part of their community outreach program went to visit the residents of Regis and designed a variety of games to play with them. Whilst the children enjoyed their visit we recent heard that the residents enjoyed it just as much.

Hi Zaim,

Residents and staff at Regis Armadale would like to thank the Grade 5 students for their wonderful  games/activity and also for their time spending with them.

Well done!  Wishing them all the best!

Sending you some of the pictures taken on the day.

 Kind Regards,

Wellbeing in our School

Wellbeing in our school sits right alongside learning. Our school has recently signed up to be an UR strong school with the focus on Friendship. We know that children want to experience a strong sense of belonging, with meaningful relationships. They want to fit in within a group. We also know that children won’t be able to focus on their academic learning if they are worried about a friendship issue or what we refer too as “Friendship fire”.  Whilst we are explicitly teaching the skills of friendship at school, we want to empower you to have the same knowledge so that we are all on the same page about the language of friendship.

PARENTS: Learn our Language of Friendship

Designed for kids in grades 3 to 6 in mind, our Language of Friendship video-series includes 8 videos plus this introduction (above) & a conclusion, mirroring concepts taught in our Friendology 101 friendship skills curriculum for URSTRONG Schools.

Each session is designed for you to watch alongside your child and covers the following concepts:

Session 1: Connecting with the Real You

Session 2: How to Make Friends

Session 3: What’s Normal in a Friendship

Session 4: Healthy vs Unhealthy Friendships

Session 5: How to Put out Friendship Fires

Session 6: Standing up to Mean-on-Purpose Behavior

Session 7: Dealing with an Unhealthy Friendship

Session 8: How to Calm the Butterflies

You’ll also get access to hundreds of resources like helpful articles & activities to continue supporting you and your child on their friendship journey. Let’s empower your child with friendship skills!

Get access now by signing up for your (TOTALLY FREE!) URSTRONG Family Membership! This is our gift to you, as we aim to help as many children around the world create healthy, feel-good friendships.

I also recently shared this video clip with the staff around kindness. If you have a minute to watch it, I’d love to know what you think.

Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS / CAREGIVERS / GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Each year DET conducts a survey to find out what parents / caregivers / guardians think of our school. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional but we encourage all families to participate. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

All families are invited to participate in the survey. Sarah will send out the link on Monday to enable you to participate.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese.
