MUSICIAN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MDP) NEWS
ENSEMBLE CONCERT SEMESTER 2 – DATE RELEASED!
This seems like a long time away, but it’ll be here before we know it! We can now confirm that our semester 2 ensemble concert will be held at the Berwick Church of Christ on Thursday November 30th (Week 9 of Term 4). Yes, we’re moving off site due to how big our Musician Development Program is getting! This is exciting for us all and I’m looking forward to showcasing our ensembles once again in this new environment. More details to come for this later in the year but please pencil in the date as this is a compulsory performance for all MDP ensemble members. Year 12s will be invited to return to join their music family one more time for this concert. All parents, friends and staff are welcome!
Please also be sure to check out other important MDP dates above.
GAURI SINGH – PERFORMANCE
A big shout out to our very own Gauri Singh in year 12 who was invited to perform the national anthem at the state funeral for the honourable Thomas (Tom) William Roper at the Immigration Museum on July 5th. Gauri did us all proud as she sang a wonderful rendition of Advance Australia Fair to a full audience of dignitaries and members of the public.
You can see her performance by clicking the link below or scanning the QR code.
Gauri’s performance is at the 15:25 mark in the video recording (bottom of the page). She is also credited in the write up. Congratulations Gauri for an excellent and moving performance and for representing your college so excellently!

ROB MILLS IN MASTERCLASS
TUESDAY AUGUST 29th
We’re very excited to have Rob Mills coming to Kambrya to present a masterclass to our students! ‘Milsy’ was a finalist on the original season of Australian Idol but now, is one of Australia’s seasoned performers, actors and entertainers. He has hosted and starred regularly on TV and in films – Peter Allen Story: Not the Boy Next Door, Underbelly, Neighbours, The Singing Bee, Young Talent Time, Dancing with the Stars and Carols By Candlelight to name a few.
Rob is a professional theatre performer and has featured in shows such as Wicked, Jesus Christ Superstar, Grease, Legally Blonde and Hairspray. He is currently, one of the lead roles in &Juliet, currently showing in Melbourne.
It’s a privilege to have Rob Mills visit the college and I’m looking forward to the students having a chance to hear his story and how can be so versatile across so many genres of music and performing. Stay tuned for how this masterclass goes!

CHOIR ON TOUR
Members of the Choir and our Senior Vocal Group (SVG) embarked on local community tour on Wednesday. This was a supremely successful outing! Now consisting of over 50 students, the increasingly popular Choir performed live at local feeder primary schools Berwick Fields and Berwick Chase, demonstrating repertoire learned through the year and showcasing the choral culture that is so well developed now at Kambrya College. Our SVG also performed some seriously harmony heavy songs impressing all who listened.
The tour then moved to Eden Rise Shopping Centre, where the students performed a live set to parents and members of the public. The students should be proud of their efforts. Onlookers were very impressed with the professionalism demonstrated and the quality of the music on show.
Congratulations to all our wonderful vocal students and a big thank you to Ms Liz Violi, our choral director for all her hard work arranging this tour.
Have a wonderful week. Listen to some music!
