Altkönigschule Exchange Program

In my opinion, we have had very pleasant stay in Australia. After we arrived on Friday, we first stayed in Melbourne to explore the city, the MCG being particularly interesting. After that, we went to Berwick, where we received a warm welcome from host families. The stay in the school has been very interesting. We got a good impression on how Australian schools work as we attended both German classes and the classes of our exchange students. When not at school, I have had a good time seeing the landscapes and animals of Australia, which was of great difference to what we have in Germany. All my expectations for this trip were fulfilled, and I look forward to seeing Australia again.

From the 9th of July, many families at Kambrya College were lucky enough to have exchange students from Altkönigschule, Germany stay with them. They were greeted by classic Melbourne rain at the train station and for the past two weeks, have been participating in classes with host students at Kambrya. Alongside this, the German students were kind enough to attend German classes at Kambrya, helping many of our younger students practice the language. On Thursday, a barbecue was hosted for the students and their host families which was quite enjoyable. Before the event, students all had the chance to participate in some fun activities together, which lead to some questionable drawings of Australia and Germany respectively. The dinner itself was great, with many opportunities to indulge in some classic Australian food and meet new people.

Recently, our German class had the privilege of hosting exchange students from Germany. It was an opportunity for me to learn about a new culture and to expand my knowledge and understanding of the world. I was grateful for the opportunity to engage with them and learn about their culture. Throughout their visit, they were incredibly welcoming and kind to all of us. We had many enriching conversations about the differences between our countries, our favourite foods, and our hobbies. I found it particularly meaningful to learn about their school system, which is quite different from ours. It made me realize that there are many ways to approach education and that we can learn from each other's methods. It was also wonderful to see how the exchange students adapted to our culture. They were respectful and curious, which made it easy for us to bond with them. The exchange program has given me a unique opportunity to learn about German culture and to connect with people from a different part of the world. It has allowed me to see the world from a different perspective and to appreciate the beauty of diversity. I’m thankful for the experience, and it has inspired me to continue learning more about German. I hope to be able to participate in a similar program when I'm older, so that I can deepen my understanding of German culture.

Meeting the German exchange students was a very fun and exciting experience. It was great to have students from the other side of the world come to our school to share their culture and German knowledge with us. It was fun getting to know them and talking to them in German. It was a wonderful opportunity to get to meet them. I can't wait for this opportunity again soon.
