PARENTS NIGHT OUT - SATURDAY 5TH OF AUGUST

What an amazing time we had at the ROCK STAR TRIVIA night.

The feedback after the event was that it was not long enough, it went too quick and what a great community of parents we have. The MC and Trivia master, Chris Hill was hilarious and kept us entertained for the night with dancing and singing contests and lots of extra fun rounds.

The Prep table won the bragging rights as the Trivia masters and the best dressed went to Kath Power as Priscilla and John Fenwick as David Bowie. Melanie Bouras from year 2 who won the singing contest on the night! With special mention to Jarl Borthwick who will never forget the words to Johnny Farnham “You're the voice” again!

The Parents Association raised just over $12,300 in fundraising which is an amazing result. Thanks to all the businesses that donated and all our amazing parents who also donated.

The amazing raffle prizes went to:

1st Prize - $500 Chadstone voucher won by the Guirguis family

2nd Prize - $350 Gumtree food and wine hamper won by the Pullman Family

3rd Prize - $100 Mr. and Mrs. P voucher - won by the Meier family

Congratulations to all our highest bidders at the silent auction items. You should have all been contacted with payment details. If you could please transfer the funds as soon as possible. Eftpos is also available for payment. Items can be collected at the school office. We encourage you to finalise things this week as items are being stored in Carmelina’s office and she needs the space!

Thanks to every-one who helped organise the night including Zoe, Tash and Danielle who helped raise and collect donations, Sal who did the budget, flyer and helped raise donations and Alisha, Suzana who helped Virginia and Connie stocktake all the items, prepare the bidding sheets, help set up on the day, pack up on the night and do a stocktake the next day as well after the event, helping organise all the payments. Things like this don’t go ahead without our parent volunteers and we couldn't have done it without you.

FATHERS DAY BREAKFAST

We are excited to celebrate our St James Dads/Special Person on Friday the 1st of September in our Tilley Garden. Please buy your tickets ASAP. It’s going to be a super fun morning.

Dads and Special Friends’ drinks are on tonight, Thursday 17th of August @ 7.30pm at the Brighton Hotel.

SPECIAL FRIENDS & GRANDPARENTS DAY

Please pop the date in your calendars for the Grandparents / Special Friends Day on Friday the 27th of October.

OAKS DAY

For Oaks Day lunch, any-one who is interested can join a St James table/s that needs a table champion to start if off, please let Connie know and we can share on the PA WhatsApp. This function books out early and it is suggested you book early and is always a great day.

CHRISTMAS PARTY AND CAROLS

The Christmas Party and Carols will go ahead this year, so please pop the date Thursday

30th of November in your calendars.

There will be carols by the year level, a presentation to Vinnies, a craft stall run by year 5, food to purchase and a visit from Santa. Further details to follow.

THANKS FROM THE PA

We are very grateful for the continued support of all our parents, the school and local community. All our PA members are volunteers who generously give up their own time to organise our school events.

Contributions from our fundraising efforts will be put towards many areas across the school. Some initial ideas that have strong support from the PA group and school community are

1) Fixing the roof at school 2) A New surface and outdoor furniture or play equipment for the Tilley playground 3) Improving school security 4) New school iPads.

School Community News

There are lots of exciting things happening in our community in the next few weeks.

St James- STAY AND PLAY - Transition Playgroup

We have seen great success in our new members of our community joing us for our Stay and Play transition playgroup sessions.

Next week we will be conducting our 5th transition playgroup sessions in the the Library with book week themed activities with Mrs Joplin. The play sessions offer an opportunity for children to meet and play with other children, as well as engage in a number of structured activities including PMP, singing, craft, library, fine motor skills, stories, games and pre writing.

2023 Term Dates

2023 term dates are as follows, but please keep in mind that they may be subject to change as each term staff have a full day dedicated to staff Professional learning and forward planning.

Term 1 31 January (Foundation Students commence Term 1) -06 April Final Day Term 1

Each Wednesday in February Foundation Students are scheduled for individual testing and do not attend school. Full weeks for Foundation commence in March.

Year 1 - Year 6 commence Wednesday 01 February 2022

(Y1-6 Student Testing 30 - 31st January)

Term 2 24 April - 23 June

Term 3 10 July - 14 September 3:30pm School Finish
