We're excited to announce our newly elected Year 11 Captains for 2023 - Sienna Martino, Annie Blezard and Elle Watharow! Aside from impressive leadership applications and performance throughout the interview and election speech process, three students have shown wonderfully consistent engagement with the Student Representative Committee all year so far, and have contributed positively to many SRC decisions and brainstorms even before their election. We're excited to see what this new leadership team will achieve through representing their peers, and want to congratulate them again on stepping up into the new leadership roles.

In other exciting news, we have also seen a brand new club emerge in the past fortnight - Swinburne's brand new Dance Club! This club is a credit to the vision and enthusiasm for connection and community (and dance!) of Year 12 student Summer Stawiarski, who has single-handedly planned and run the lunchtime dance club as a welcoming and fun space for any students who are keen to learn or refine their dance skills. The lunchtime dance workshops, run by Summer, are relaxed and friendly and open to students of all dance abilities - starting with styles like commercial and hip-hop which are beginner-friendly and easy to pick up in a workshop format. For any students who are interested in coming along, dance club workshops are run on Tuesday lunchtimes (1pm) in the Auditorium. Contact Summer Stawiarski or Maeve for more details!

Rainbow Club

The Rainbow Club has been very active in Semester two, doing multiple fabulous activities. Following on from IDAHOBIT, the school raised over $800 for a new Rainbow flag pole. We are now planning to have this installed, including a small ceremony. Rainbow Club has started lunchtime movies for anyone to attend. This has been going for a month now and has been great to explore different genres. Planning is now well under way for 'Wear it Purple' day on Friday 25th August - stay tuned for photos and updates about this exciting day.
