SENIOR SCHOOL NEWS

We welcomed back our Year 10s, 11s & 12’s to KSC last week for the start of our ‘Mid-winter Term’ - freezing cold and lots of work to do! But all being at school – both teachers and students – means that our VCE & exam preparation goes ahead as ‘normal’; and for this we are very grateful!

Some dedicated Year 12 students took up the opportunity to come to school for study, help and for English lectures (some of which have been postponed), which was very encouraging for Ms Creaser and I. We watched the destruction of the old and the beginning of the new PAC balcony over the holidays, and while the quadrangle is a bit smaller for the time being, it will be well worth it.

We will soon embark upon the busy-business of making subject choices which will help you make informed decisions about your chosen careers & pathways. While these sessions are VERY helpful, it is important that as a Senior School student in 2021, you start thinking carefully and having meaningful discussions with staff, mentors, teachers and your family about how to successfully tackle these last years of formal schooling! Ms Matthews, Ms Creaser, Ms Hunter, Ms Sorrell and I are all here to help; so seek us out! Keep an eye on COMPASS for details and messages.

Some important dates for the Senior School for your diaries and calendars:

Year 12 DAY – FOR YEAR 12’S OF 2020! Monday 3rd August. A fun day is planned with visits from past students from VCAL & VCE, the Respectful Relationships course & end of year planning!
Year 12, 2021 VCE & VCAL ACE SESSIONS Thursday 30th July & Thurs 6th August. It is important for both Year 11 VCE & VCAL students to attend these ACE session to discuss SUBJECT SELECTION, VCE & VCAL expectations and pre-requisites
YEAR 12, 2021 – COURSE COUNSELLING Friday 7th August with Ms Matthews & Ms Neill (appointments need to be pre-booked)
Year 11, 2021 – VCE & VCAL CAREERS INFO SESSION in ACE - Thursday 13th August
Year 11, 2021 – SUBJECT INFORMATION SESSION PERIOD ONE – Tuesday 18th August
Year 10 & 11 2021 INFORMATION NIGHT for FAMILIES – Wednesday 19th August (at this stage still going ahead on site in STEAM FOYER)
Year 11 2021 Course Counselling all day - no Year 10 classes - Tuesday 25th August
GAT (Unit 3 & 4 students only) Wednesday 9th September at KSC
Year 11 Camp – Forest Edge Neerim South. Mon 7th Sep– Wed 9th September. At this stage the camp will go ahead, but all parents will be refunded the cost of the camp if ‘lockdown’ prohibits us from attending
