Music Notes

Changes to the Year Seven Band Program.

As we continually adapt our teaching and learning environment to manage the Coronavirus Pandemic, we have made some changes to our Year Seven Band Program.

Year sevens who are enrolled in music this semester have begun selecting a musical instrument using non-contact methods to ensure the safety of all of our students.

Instruments selections for these classes are nearly finalised and students will be notified via email regarding the instrument they have received by Monday.

Lessons for these students will commence next week and will take place during class time, therefore students will not be withdrawn from other classes to attend music lessons, with the exception of those students who are learning Flute.

Due to the specialist nature of the Flute instrument, Mrs Leesa Clark will continue to offer tuition to these students, and they will be notified of their lesson times next week.

This semester, each year seven class will have one lesson/band class per week.

During this time, each class will have two Music Teachers in attendance to provide instruction to the students.

Mrs Claire Toffolon will be providing tuition to the brass and percussion students and I will be providing tuition to the woodwind students.

This will enable the students to receive intensive music lessons from qualified staff without disruption to other timetabled classes.

Private lessons:

Due to the current travel restrictions for residents of Greater Melbourne, Mr Mark Skillington, is unable to provide private brass lessons at this time.

We are currently working to find a temporary solution for our private students.

Mr Matt Toffolon has recently advised us that he has accepted a full-time position outside of teaching, therefore private lessons for woodwind students are not available this semester.

We wish him well in his new career and thank him for his contribution to our woodwind program this year.

Voice and Piano lessons.

We still have some vacancies for any student wishing to learn Classical Voice or Piano.

To enroll, application forms are available at reception or, if you would like an electronic copy, please email ahoulihan@monivae.vic.edu.au
