Sacred Heart Day:

As you are aware, the Feast Day of the Sacred Heart is a major celebration day within the broader Catholic community, and especially so for the MSC.

This day is normally a celebration at Monivae College, and this was still the case even due to restrictions in place because of Covid 19.

A big congratulations must go out to our student leaders who, under trying circumstances, put together a wonderful afternoon of homeroom-based activities so the school could celebrate.

Whilst our traditional concert did not take place, a very successful online quiz, followed by an entertaining “TV show” video was shown to celebrate the talents of our senior students.

The day began with our courtyard being decorated with hearts to demonstrate the power of love. The students were then provided with lunch by the school, and a special thanks must go to Mary Golding and her team for ensuring this went off without a hitch.

The students then received a fridge magnet and chocolate heart – all encouraged to remember the power of love.

Staff Spirituality Day:

All Monivae staff gathered to recognise the importance of our spirituality and participated in our annual staff spirituality day held on Monday June 22nd. We were joined by Father Bob Irwin, MSC. Sessions were held throughout the day that mirrored sessions that our students participate in on their retreats.

The day was titled “Hearts Reflection”, it gave  staff much time to reflect on what it means to them to be part of the MSC community.

Tins for St Vinnies:

Each homeroom has once again begun the process of collecting tins of food for our local St. Vincent de Paul organisation. Once we collect these tins, the local St. Vinnies collect them and give them to people in need within our local community.

Our students normally gather trailer loads of tins, and we are hoping this year will be no different. The collection will be given to St Vincent de Paul on the 9th of August.

Coming Up:

  • Year 11 Retreat has been postponed. Keep an eye out for further information as it comes to hand.
  • Assumption Mass will be held on Wednesday August 12th during wellbeing period.

May the Sacred Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved.
