It gives me great pleasure to share the exciting things happening in the Kingswood Library. Over the last year, all the fiction books have been given a colour coded sticker, defining which genre they are. So, the students can now select a book by what type they like to read. Whether it is Adventure, Humour, Fantasy, Sport, Real Life or Animal Stories, they just need to search for the coloured stickers on the spines of the books.

Lunchtimes are relaxing and fun in the library. It is open for students in years 3 to 6, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. They are welcome to come in to read and relax or play a game of chess, do a jigsaw puzzle, play Uno and other games.

Wednesday 19th of May Kingswood Primary School will be participating in the annual National Simultaneous Storytime event, where the same book is read to children all over Australia at the same time. This year’s Australian author is Philip Bunting, and the book is Give Me Some Space.

This year an Astronaut will be reading the book from the Australian Space Station. All students will have the opportunity to watch and listen to this reading, which should be very entertaining.

In this newsletter, I have included a selection of new books that have recently been added to the Kingswood Library collection. Some titles are very popular and whilst we can’t have 10 copies of each book, we can reserve a book for students, if it is on loan.

I would like to remind everyone that students in years Prep to 4, must have a bag to be allowed to borrow books from the library. This can be any kind of bag, with the aim being to protect the book.

I would like to ask all Parents and Caregivers to make sure your child knows which day they have library, so their books are returned in time. A note on the fridge, a calendar in their room, a reminder on your phone are just some ideas for reminding your children to return their books in their library bag, on time. I have included a weekly Library roster for your convenience.
