From the Principal

Term 3 Week 2 Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

Here we are in week two of term three and the students have settled in nicely and are back into the routine of school. It’s been wonderful to see the growing independence of our younger students who march straight into the classroom and get organised for the day. It has also been great to see all our student leaders moving around the school showing care and support of other students.

Pupil Free Days

We have pupil free day this Friday for staff training and curriculum planning. OSHC is available, please book. We have another pupil free day later in the term on Monday 7th of September. This day will be spent with schools in our district examining students work to ensure there is consistency when assessing across different schools.

School Sport

It has been a challenge getting any school sports up and running this year due to the COVID19 restrictions. However a loosening of restrictions  has seen a number of sporting events appear in the calendar. Sports day and district athletics day are occurring later this term as is a soccer carnival. Both the schools netball and football teams have games coming up in the next few weeks. We wish all participants well and know they will do the school and themselves proud.

Sporting Flashback

50 year ago West Beach Primary won its first match at home v Henley PS – 18th July 1970. It was the school’s first game against our nearest neighbour and we came back across the river victorious. More details about the match and a team photo are included in today’s newsletter.

SAPSASA Success

Well done to Neve Murphy and Josh Williams who have been selected in the SAPSASA soccer teams.

If you have a query or question please don’t hesitate me at the school.

Kind regards,

Kevin Kennedy
