Foundation

Earlier this week the Foundie kids were given the task of writing a letter to a friend from their class. This was a way for them to continue working on their writing goal, whilst also helping to build connection with each other during this challenging remote learning time. Many of the students had been saying during our regular morning meetings that they are missing their friends, so the teachers hoped this would bring some excitement to their day when they received a letter (although virtual) posted to their Seesaw page.

As you can see by reading the letters from the CB students, they are doing a fantastic job working on writing goals such as "putting spaces between my words," "using a word chart for tricky words" or "saying words slowly like a turtle to hear all the sounds."

Keep up the great writing CB!

Juniors

This week in our remote learning, the Juniors were asked to create a poster about children’s rights. They chose from one of five topics - safety, health, fair treatment, play, learning - and after watching a fun and engaging video about Children’s Rights, needed to design and create a poster that presented a Children’s Right that they understood to be important. They were asked to also record an audio comment explaining why they chose that right and why it was important. Some of the amazing posters from Unit MR can be seen below.

How to make a better world!

Next week, for Enviro Science, the students will be investigating sharing food and how food brings people together. As we all know, there are many people in Melbourne who are struggling to make ends meet, including putting food on the table for their families. Many of the charities are currently not taking food donations due to Covid-19 restrictions. However, they are taking monetary donations to purchase food with. Here are some links that you can use to donate money (if you can) for the purchasing of food for those families that are needing a helping hand.
