Principal's Message

Welcome back to Term 3

Selamat datang  (Welcome)

Lazy sunny days with my dogs and lots of neighborhood walks! I hope all of our families were able to take some time, and maybe even some of you got away,  to rest and refresh. Unfortunately, we will have to use memories of these times to sustain us over the next few weeks.

As you would be aware we are moving back to Remote Learning, after this week of pupil free days. I wrote to all families by email through Sentral to preferred contacts last week. This was to explain the arrangements for this week. Staff are busy planning for the move and adjusting the Term Overviews to reflect this.

I have included the information from the DET in Important Information but thought I would summarise some of the differences/similarities to Term 2 Remote Learning for us at MPRPS.  We will continue to listen to our students and families and respond as quickly as we can to support you all in the best possible way. Many of the items below are in response to the feedback we received from families last term.

  • Hand and personal hygiene routines will continue to be reinforced and additional cleaning will continue.
  • Junior School students will use Seesaw with Senior School students using Google Classroom. Google Meet will be introduced to the Junior School for video conferencing and Senior School will continue to use Zoom for their video conferencing. Additional information will come out through emails by class teachers.
  • Weekly Schedules/Class Timetables will be released each Friday and be in Monday's newsletter.
  • Students are not expected to complete all tasks and we know there are days where this is not going to happen. It's important to prioritise your family's health and wellbeing over this time.
  • All Learning Centres will have their Specialist class on one day each week
    • 5/6 on a Monday, 3/4 on Tuesday, 1/2 Wednesday and Prep on Thursday.
  • All students who attend onsite will be temperature checked. If a temperature is 37.5 or higher parents will be contacted to collect their child.
  • No student or staff is to attend school if unwell.
  • Applications from families for students to attend onsite are to be submitted before Thursday at 3.00pm. The application form is in this newsletter in Important Information.
  • If a student requires an iPad in the Junior School then a form needs to be sent to the school email and Ally will manage the distribution of devices with our technician. This form is in Important Information. Please be mindful that we have a limited number of devices and our technician only works on a Wednesday.  Requests ideally need to be made before Wednesday 15th July for pick up Thursday and Friday this week.
  • Communication with families will occur through this newsletter, Sentral news feed and Sentral emails. Please download the new Sentral App - see Important Information. This new app is amazing - truthfully! If you have any issues at all with Sentral please contact Ally in the office and she will fix it!

Parent Teacher Interviews

Interviews will be go ahead as planned next week with bookings through Sentral. The purpose of the interviews is it discuss the Semester One report and your child's achievements and goals for Semester Two.

Bookings for Parent Teacher Interviews will open on Wednesday and close on Friday. There will be 15 minute slots with interviews going for 10 minutes. All interviews will be conducted by phone. Please remember that often staff will use their mobile phone with a blocked number, as we only have two lines into the school.

Parent Q & A Friday

With the return to Remote Learning, I would like to invite parents and carers to a virtual Question and Answer meeting, hosted by myself and Amanda. If you have any questions that you would like answered you are welcome to submit them to the school email address beforehand. I look forward to seeing many of you on Friday.

Under advice from the Department we are not permitted to open the school site to the community. We have locked most of the gates and put up signs to support this. Please help us to follow this advice.

Our Library has had a couple of additions thanks to Jo Smaller and Tegan Kitteringham.

Stay safe and take care of yourselves,

This is a challenging time for everyone. Please do not hesitate to reach out and make contact to see how we can help.
