Library

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re well and having fun reading and discovering new and interesting books at home.

We have a great mix of non-fiction titles for you in our library this month – a range of topics presented in varied and appealing text types and styles. It is ready and waiting for you in our New Books shelf to read and borrow.

Our featured new book this month is called Strangers on Country, a collaboration between Dave Hartley and Kirsty Murray, illustrated by Dub Leffler and published by the National Library of Australia. There are five stories in the book, each based on historical records from the 1790s to the 1890s, about white men, boys and women who were taken in by the Indigenous people of the Torres Strait Islands and the east coast of Australia. It’s a great premise and Dave Hartley and Kirsty Murray each bring a different perspective – Dave writes from the Indigenous viewpoint and Kirsty from the European viewpoint. The book works well across a range of curriculum areas, in particular HASS history and geography, as well as the cross-curriculum priorities Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures and sustainability.

We look forward to seeing you soon @ The Library, May
