Principal's Report

Dear parents,
This week our school's student leaders were inducted and presented with their badges. Our school captains for 2019 are: Amirthan Thiruarrenkan, Teniha Kovintharajan, Kyle Birchfield, and Varsha Balaji. Along with our captains; prefects, SRC representatives, library monitors, and sport house captains received badges. It is very impressive to have such a large number of students in leadership positions across our school. Student leaders are role models to other students and assist in the organisation of events throughout the year. Congratulations to all our school leaders on your induction for 2019.
A number of students in our school suffer allergies that can produce serious reactions to nuts, seafood, dairy products and dust. To manage the safety of our students, parents are requested not to include nuts in any food brought to school. Parents are also requested to inform the school of any allergies their children have and if there are any changes to their child’s health care requirements. All staff are trained in emergency health care procedures and the use of Epi pens to treat serious Anaphylaxis, the allergic reaction to nuts and seafood. Epi pens are on hand at school and included in first aid kits taken on excursions and to sporting events.
Thank you to all those parents who have paid the annual book package account for this year. The $70.00 per student goes towards school costs in classrooms, library, computers and sport equipment. If you have not paid the school contribution please finalise payment at the school office before the end of this term.
Our P&C met for the first time this year on Wednesday evening. School organisation and programs for the year were discussed. There was a presentation from Mr Grant Sparke, principal of Greystanes High School, as well as parents and students. The next P&C meeting will be held on 20 March at 7.00pm. This will be the 2019 Annual General Meeting. A nomination form for elected positions is included in this newsletter. If you are interested in nominating someone for an Executive Position, please complete this and return it to the school's office. Additional forms will be also be available from the office.
To be eligible for an Executive Position you must be a current member of the P&C. On 21 March anyone wishing to participate as a member of the P&C for 2019 will need to complete a membership form and pay the membership fee (which is currently $2). Our P&C is an important link between the community, parents and the school. I highly recommend parents being involved in our P&C. There is strong support for anyone taking on a position in the P&C.
Regards,
G. Walker
