Things you need to know (1 of 2)

Tiqbiz
The School uses Tiqbiz as its preferred method of communication. It's easy to download and saves our environment by eliminating the need for lots of paper copies. The system is far more efficient than email and is class specific. During emergencies Tiqbiz represents a far more efficient and reliable method of communication as it can easily be used from a mobile phone should we lose power.
If you have not yet downloaded the app, we strongly encourage you to do so. Tiqbiz offers everything in one place from the Canteen to the Newsletter.
Tiqbiz is the perfect tool for advising the school of your child's absence. Simply click 'Enter Here' and then use the corresponding 'Absence' button in the 'Quicklinks' bar.
Once you have downloaded the app, you can select all relevant classes for your children. These class groups are password protected to maintain privacy. The password has not changed from previous years. If you are unsure of the password, please contact Reception.
As well as accessing Tiqbiz from a smartphone or tablet, you can also access it from your desktop with the following URL https://web.tiqbiz.com
If you would like to download the app, but technology isn't your strength, feel free to come into Reception and one of our staff will be happy to help you. We know those who have downloaded it are enjoying it. Information comes to you in one easy place. Why not download it today?? See the flyer for more details.
Absentees
Families are reminded to contact the school if a child is going to be absent. As a school, we are legally required to make note of a student’s absence and the reason for their absence. You can inform the school of your child’s absence by leaving a voicemail message, contacting Reception directly, emailing, or sending a note. Voicemail messages can be left by dialling 299 at any time during the welcome message or after hours message. Emails can be sent to office@bhcs.vic.edu.au Alternatively, you can use the Tiqbiz app mentioned in the above article. There is a simple form to complete on the app that will notify us of your child's absence.
In cases where the School does not appear to have received advice, families will be contacted to inquire about the child’s whereabouts.
Student Admin
The School would like to inform parents and students about the new Student Admin window located to the right of the Reception entrance. Last year this window was used for student first aid.
This year, the window will also be for excursion form collection and drop off, late pass collection, and any general student enquiries.
We ask parents to encourage their children to use this window, as the Reception area is being reserved for parents and guests only. This will allow Admin staff to assist our parents and guests in a timely manner.
If the student admin window is unattended, students are still permitted to head into Reception for assistance.
Camp Australia
We would like to remind families that Before and After School Care are both available for BHCS families through Camp Australia. For more information, please see the attached document.
School Accounts
We are currently in the process of issuing your annual school fees account. These should arrive via email within the next two weeks, together with the information regarding the commencement of Direct Debit arrangements.
If you have not yet returned your Direct Debit Form, please do so without delay.
Should you have any queries regarding your school account, please contact Liz Stewart in the Finance Office.
Government Money Available for Healthcare Card/
Pension Holders
If you hold a current Health Care or Pension Card (valid on or before 30th January, 2017), or are a Foster Parent, you may be eligible for a Government payment under the new Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund.
Payments are $125 per primary student and $225 per secondary student.
For more information, please see the CSEF website. Please download the Application Form attached or collect one from Reception. Term 1 applications are due NO LATER than 28th February, 2017.
It is extremely important to the School that all families who hold a Health Care/Pension Card take the time to apply for the this funding. Not only will you receive a payment that will be credited to your fee account, the School’s ongoing Government Funding is based on the number of applications received. This can make a big difference in the programs and facilities that the School can provide for your children.
Student Personal Accident Insurance
The School has a group accident insurance policy for all current enrolled students. This is for 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, worldwide coverage. This insurance covers medical expenses arising from an accident, which are not covered by Medicare or your Health Insurance. It excludes illness, disease, self-inflicted injuries etc. The cost of this insurance forms part of your annual fees. Should you have the need to make a claim during the course of the year, please contact the Finance Department.
Personal Details
We would like to remind families that if your circumstances change in any way - this includes address, phone numbers, email address, custody arrangements and fee arrangements - please contact the School as soon as possible to update your details. This will assist us in ensuring that the information we provide you is correct. Please feel free to email any updates to office@bhcs.vic.edu.au, so this can be passed on to the relevant departments.
