Middle News

What a busy term!

As Term 1 comes to a close, we cannot believe how much we have managed to do! Our new middle school has become a really strong team throughout the term. New classes were created, new friends have been made and lots of learning has been happening. We have learnt about Harmony day, celebrated the national day against bullying, spent time on camp and even had our school photos taken for 2019. We are all ready for a little break before heading into another busy term.

Well done to middle school on a fantastic start to the year!

Camp Gundiwindi

Camp Gundiwindi is sure to be a highlight in middle school this year! We started our adventure by heading straight to Gundiwindi Lodge in Wandin, where we found out who our cabin buddies were and which cabins we were allocated to. There was a real buzz of excitement in the air!! Danny, Tracey and Stewart were our camp leaders. They showed us around the camp and then got us to complete some team building activities. These activities encouraged the kids to communicate as a team to find a solution to a problem. We also had our first big activity rotation on day 1! The big activities included: Giant Swing, Flying Fox, Archery, Survival Skills and Damper making. It was great to see nearly all the kids having a go at each activity over the two days! We ended day 1 with a night walk and campfire (there may have been a lot of roasted marshmallows). Our day 2 went straight into more activity rotations, throughout the day all the kids had a chance to go attempt each of the big activities. Thankfully we had amazing weather!! On the second night we had a little trivia competition and relaxed with a movie. By this point everyone was rather exhausted. We were all up early on the last morning. Our bags were packed and our cabins were left spotless. We jumped back on the bus to head down to Silvan Dam, where we had some snack and completed a nature scavenger hunt. Unfortunately there were lots of wasps in the area so we decided to jump back on the bus and have lunch at Lilydale Lake instead. We went for a walk around the lake and had a play on the playground before heading back to school.

It was such a fantastic few days and each of the kids demonstrated all of our school values during the entire trip!
