THE ARTS

Year 9 Core Art

As part of the Year 9 Core Art curriculum, students explore the wonderful and imaginative world of Surrealism.

During Semester 1, we worked closely to share ideas, skills and resources, engaging our classes in a range of shared activities.

We were so impressed with the standard of the work, that we decided to have an exhibition and give the students a chance to celebrate their achievements.

The classes voted for 'Best Conceptual Work', which was awarded to Jack Gleeson and 'Best Technical Work, which was overwhelmingly won by Hannah Zinnack.

We would like to congratulate all of our students on their fantastic efforts and we look forward to seeing what our classes produce this semester.

7.55 Environmental Artworks

One of the areas of study for Year 7 Art  involves students creating an artwork in response to an environmental issue.

Students from 7.55 researched a range of subjects including;

  • Global Warming
  • Deforestation
  • Animal extinction
  • Pollution and Overpopulation

In a number of weeks, students developed ideas, explored a range of techniques and materials and documented their processes along the way.

Overall, a variety of very sophisticated artworks were produced including;

  • Watercolour paintings
  • Pen on paper
  • Collages,
  • Mixed media
  • 3D pieces

The students’ work was then put on display and impressively, each student got up and delivered an artist statement about their artwork.

The class also voted on 'Best Conceptual Work' which was awarded to Paula Pavic and 'Best Technical Work' which went to Ethan Webber.

Congratulations 7.55!
