MATHS

Year 7 students
This week Ms Barr kindly allowed us into her classroom to see what her Year 7 students were learning.
They were continuing their engaging lesson on data collection from last week. Students were learning about the collection of data and measures of central tendency (Mean, Median & Mode).
Students were able to take the opportunity to revise their skills to use on their upcoming Data and Statistics Common Assessment Task.
Campbell Eastwood 7.56 - "It's very interesting, we get to draw graphs and Ms Barr makes it really fun. She is a great teacher."
Tayla Robinson-Darvell 7.56 - "I like finding the data and making graphs from the data and how to sketch them correctly."

Mean, Median, Mode - Definition
Mean
Also known as the average. The mean is found by adding up all of the given data and dividing by the number of data entries.
Median
The median is the middle number. First you arrange the numbers in order from lowest to highest, then you find the middle number by crossing off the numbers until you reach the middle.
Mode
This is the number that occurs most often.
Maths Tutoring
Cross age tutoring is continuing to run this semester on Monday afternoons from 3.00 pm to 3.45 pm in the Library.
Students are asked to bring along work to complete or homework sheets to receive some assistance on.
