Awards Assemblies

Last week we celebrated the achievements of those students who performed very well in individual subjects for Semester 1.

The awards are based on academic excellence and academic endeavour. Many students received excellence in a large number of their subjects and importantly, many received endeavour awards – these awards are all about the effort that students put into their work, an important factor in being successful.

I would like to remind all students that gaining a satisfactory (S) in their subjects is based on the following criteria;

  • Be punctual to class and at school regularly
  • Bring all equipment to class
  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Persist with the required tasks
  • Complete all work set
  • Complete all homework
  • Do the best possible in all assessments

Thanks to our year level teams for organising the awards assemblies and thanks to the many parents and family members who were in attendance.

We want our parents to tell us what they think

The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school.

It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community.  Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete.  The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August.

Approximately 30% of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey.  Parents chosen via random sample to complete the survey will be posted home instructions and access codes prior to 7th August.  All responses to the survey are anonymous.

Visitors from Celebes Global School

This week we welcomed our visiting students and teachers from the Celebes Global School in Indonesia. They are with us for two weeks experiencing an Australian school and visiting many of the sights and tourist destinations in Melbourne.

Thanks to Head of Languages, Sharon Stoyanoff for her work in organising the visit and to our host families from across the year levels.

Planning for 2018

We are well underway with our planning for 2018. Course briefings are currently taking place for our Year 8, 9, 10 and 11 students and the Information Night for Middle School and Senior School is this Monday evening.

We also have Managed Individual Pathways interviews for all Year 10 and 11 students on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 August.

We encourage all students to take every opportunity to carefully consider their options for next year and to see year level teams with any questions.

University Open Days

University Open Days are approaching.   It is a great opportunity for students to have a look at some of the courses offered and speak to university staff.

Year 10 to 12 students are encouraged to attend these days.  Our careers team has more information if needed.
