Teachers v Students Volleyball
As is customary at Lilydale High School, the last lunchtime of the term saw the Year 12 students battle the staff to prove their sporting prowess.
After initial plans of a basketball game (now happening at the end of Term 3), the challenge changed to volleyball and the competition was fierce. Despite some great teamwork, the students were unable to overcome a staff group inspirationally lead by Mr Thomas “The Windmill” Decker, winning the Male Staff MVP and Ms Sanya ‘Rookie of the Year’ Stapar winning the Female Staff MVP.
Congratulations also to our student MVPs Brayden Ferguson and Roshani Kandel who displayed outstanding skills, as did many others.
We look forward to basketball in Term 3 and footy in Term 4.

Year 11 Captains Report
Wrapping up our first Unit of VCE, students were tested with Examinations. This would challenge all of us to study hard and productively, concluding the work of a semester’s worth.
Congratulations to all Year 11 Students for taking another step into their high school career. A word of encouragement for students to retrieve any necessary help, for results that do not live up to their potential.
Year 11 students participated in the annual Awards Ceremony on Friday 21 July, where students were awarded Outstanding or 100% Attendance and Excellence and Endeavours.
To highlight accomplishments and activities that VCE students have achieved throughout this year, students are rewarded with points which earn badges every 100 points. Many Year 11 students were awarded with their first badge; the blue badge, while one student, Leon Bamford, accumulated enough points to receive his blue and bronze badge.
Congratulations to all students that received awards, and for those who were unsuccessful, there are still many opportunities to receive such awards at the End of Year Awards Ceremony as well as next year.
Would love to wish the best time for all VCE students and teachers participating in the VCE Ski camp, embarking on Friday 28 July. Be sure to always stay warm, have a safe travel and to enjoy your time.
Lastly, well done to all involved in this year’s musical production, 'Bring It On The Musical'. The opening day is closing in on us, on Thursday 31 August. Ticket purchases have rocked the ticket booth, having little availability left for those who have not bought tickets!
May we all continue to work hard until then. Let us all stay safe and keep warm for the rest of this Winter!

VCE REMINDERS
Improved Performance Time (ITP)
This year all VCE students have study periods together on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Periods 5 and 6 and Friday Period 6.
The aim is to run all SACs, examinations, level assemblies, guest speakers and other activities during this time to minimise class disruption. If there are no relevant activities for your child during this time, they are free to go home to study. However, students are more than welcome to stay at school and study.
VCE SAC's
A reminder that if your child misses a School Assessed Coursework (SAC) they must get a medical certificate to enable them to sit the SAC in the next available IPT time slot.
Students will not be granted SAC redemption unless they have a medical certificate or it is a school-approved absence. If there are extenuating circumstances please let us know and we will make a decision based on the VCAA guidelines.
Once a student has been approved for SAC redemption, they will be required to sit the SAC the next available time slot.
The times for SACs are:
Monday - SAC Redemption 3 pm - 4.30 pm
Tuesday - Periods 5 and 6
Thursday - Periods 5 and 6
Friday - Period 6 (one period SAC only)
VCE Attendance
It is a requirement at Lilydale High School that students attend all timetabled classes so that teaching and learning opportunities can be maximised.
If students have reached their limit for absences from class there is an opportunity for this time to be redeemed. Students can speak to their Year Level Coordinator to discuss making this time up at lunchtime, during afternoon study periods, or after school.
Furthermore, it is a requirement that students attend Home Group, even if they have Study periods, Periods 1 and 2.
VCE Cars
Some students will acquire a car and licence in 2017. PARKING is available in the Stadium Car Park.
NO DRIVER STUDENT MAY TAKE OUT ANOTHER STUDENT IN THEIR CAR DURING SCHOOL HOURS.
Students may obtain their parents’ permission to be driven to and from school in another student’s car. A written note from both students’ parents must be given to the VCE Coordinators before driving another student or siblings.
Students must inform the VCE Coordinators of their licence plate numbers and car make and colour.
Student Absences
Any absences from school must be parent/guardian approved – you can do this through a signed note or you can approve your child’s absences via the 'Parent Approval' button on Compass.
If you have forgotten the parent Compass username and password, please contact Jenny McLean in the Senior School Office.
