Japan School Trip

An adventure in Japan

On Friday 21st September, a group of students and myself met at the Melbourne airport with Mr. Hadleigh Sirett and Mrs. Suzanne Couchman for the trip of a lifetime. Once we arrived in Japan, we loved the humid weather, after dealing with winter for months. On Tuesday 25th September, we had our first day at school; we were each paired up with buddies from the host school and attended a whole school assembly. Throughout the morning, our group of Aussies visited English classes and joined in activities, later on in the day we got the opportunity to meet the Mayor of Toyoake City, where we each introduced ourselves and exchanged gifts showing our gratitude.

During our time in Japan, we all had the privilege of enjoying the sights, tastes and smells of Japan and took advantage of all it had to offer. We experienced a wide range of interesting and fun activities, organised for us in advance. These included;

*Visiting the Toyota car factory (HQ) in Toyota City,

*Exploring the Toyota Museum

*Spending a day in Kyoto City and buying dinner together

*Using the Shinkansen (bullet train)

*Sight-seeing at the ‘Golden Temple’ and the ‘Kiyomizu Temple’

*Touring & watching a training session at the Nagoya Fire Station

*Listening to an ‘English Speech Competition’ at Seijoh Private High School

 *Attending the Toyoake Welcome Party for us

*Enjoying a day at Nagashima Spaland (theme park)

*Taking food tech, music, art, P.E & calligraphy classes

Overall, I really loved the experience, enjoyed the company and made friendships that will last a lifetime! This was an experience I will never forget, and I would highly recommend that everyone should consider to take this opportunity and go on this trip in the future.
