Canteen List

If your child gets their lunch order bag back at lunchtime with a sticker on it, it means that they need to go to the Canteen pick up an item e.g. slushie or frozen juice cup.

New 'No Parking' Signs

There are now 'No Parking' signs from 8am-9.30am and 2.30pm-4pm out the front of the school along Brookwater Parade, on the school side.

This area is now effectively a drop off/pick up zone during these times.

Eg. You are not able to park your car and leave it to walk the students into the school grounds during these times.

The council will be monitoring the area.

Student Dress Code

Please find attached the updated ‘Student Dress Code’ for Lyndhurst Primary School.

The School Council has developed a Student Dress Code for all pupils. Pupils are expected to wear the approved school uniform whilst at school, on school excursions and when engaged in out of hours school activities unless otherwise approved.

Lost Property

All items of clothing brough to school must be named.If items are put in lost property and they have names they will be returned to students.

If the items have no name, and are school issue, they will be donated to the PFA Second Hand Uniform Shop.If items are not school uniform, they will be donated to charity.

Heather Grove Primary School New Name

Please find the initial approval of the name for the new school. The school’s ‘working name’ was Heather Grove Primary School.

The next phase of the process for naming a school is to consult widely with the community and all relative stake holders.

The local Reference Group has selected the name Wilandra Rise Primary School for the new name. The name was chosen with the local community in mind as Wilandra was a prominent Homestead that was built for a well known Clyde family who cultivated the land into Market Gardens and made significant contributions to the area.

We think this provides a perfect opportunity to bring history together with our vision for the future of the school being one that prides itself on learning from the past to build a much brighter future.

Commonwealth Bank School Banking

The School Banking program provides children with an opportunity to deposit money into their Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at school each week. The program is about how often your child makes deposits, not how much they deposit.

To encourage regular savings behaviour the program offers an exciting Rewards Program. Every deposit earns your child a silver Dollarmites token, and once they’ve collected 10 tokens they can redeem them for a reward.

The rewards available during 2016 are:

School Banking is also a great fundraiser for our school. Our school receives $5 when a student makes their first ever School Banking deposit and 5% on every deposit made through the school (to a maximum of $10 per individual deposit).

Getting involved in School Banking is easy! You can get involved in the School Banking program by opening a Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account at your local branch.

All you need to bring is your current identification as well as your child’s birth certificate. If you are an existing Commonwealth Bank customer and have NetBank, you can open an account online.

If your child has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account they can start banking straight away.

They just need to bring their deposit in every week on School Banking day using their Dollarmites deposit wallet.School Banking day is Monday.

The 'Buddy Bench'

As a ‘KidsMatter’ School we aim to provide a positive community; one that is founded on respectful relationships and a sense of belonging and inclusion.

One of our latest KidsMatter School initiatives has been the introduction of the ‘Buddy Bench’. You may have seen it in the Junior School Playground. The aim of the ‘Buddy Bench’ is to provide students who may not have anyone to play with, a meeting place.

Teachers have discussed the use of the ‘Buddy Bench’ with their students, and also what they can do if they see someone sitting on the bench. Put simply, the ‘Buddy Bench’ is:

A place to sit when you can’t find anyone to play with.

A place to sit and decide what looks interesting to play in the playground.

A place to include people in your play and make new friends.

A place to say ‘YES’ to people who ask you to play.
