School Arrivals

Class starts promptly at 8.40am. To avoid disruptions to student’s learning could you please ensure your child is at school on time. 

The school gates open each morning at 8.15am.

Religious Education

Care for Creation 

Students will explore the goodness and beauty of God's creation. They will acknowledge that God wants us to enjoy, respect and care for the environment. 

 

Life and Mission of Jesus

Students will learn about the role of the Priest in the Parish and explore the celebration of the Eucharist and Confirmation. They will investigate Scripture texts about Mary and identify how she was a woman of faith who allowed God to work through her.

Literacy

Reading

This term in Reading we are focusing on applying comprehension strategies to achieve a deeper understanding of texts. 

  • Cause and Effect 
  • Compare and contrast

Writing

In Writing we are focusing on the structure of Information text and Persuasive texts. 

 

Grammar

  • Noun groups
  • Adjectives including comparing adjectives. Understanding the difference between describing and classifying adjectives.
  • Time connectives
  • Prepositions
  • Action verbs and various combinations of clauses

 

Vocabulary development

Word of the day, dictionary skills and word study tasks

 

Proof reading skills using editing task cards andpersonal writing pieces to apply correct spelling,grammar and punctuation

We are developing an understanding that social interactions influence the way people engage with and respond to others. Eg: sharing responses and expressing a point of view

Inquiry

In Inquiry, we will engage in the connections of the Geographical world as students learn about different environments, climate zones and natural vegetation. 

They will learn about Australia’s neighbouring countries and about changes caused by adding and removing heat. Your students will work in groups as they consider the location, climate and values of our own island nation. 

The Resilience Project

This term we are using the Resilience Project to build our understanding of gratitude, emotional literacy, empathy and mindfulness.
