Father's Day

This Sunday is Father's Day, and today Clyde PS students enjoyed time with their dads ahead of Sunday, with our annual Father's Day Picnic.  It was lovely to see the sun out and so many special guests come to visit.  I would like to make a special mention to our parent helpers who helped with our Father's Day Stall this week. Please see some photos of the event in this edition of the newsletter.

Book Week Celebrations

Last week, our school community celebrated Book Week and the importance of books and reading for children in many fun ways.  It was wonderful to see the many different book characters parading class by class around the gym, cheered on by one of the largest audiences we have seen before.  Thank you to everyone who came along.

Footy Parade

Our annual Footy Day Parade will be held on the last day of term at 9:15 am in the gym.  Students are encouraged to wear their favourite team's colours, this may include a range of sporting teams including AFL, soccer, netball etc.   During the parade, we will announce the winners of our Longest Kick Footy Competition (which will be held earlier in the week).

We are also using our new BBQ, donated by Bunnings Clyde North, to cook a sausage sizzle for students later on in the day to raise funds for school projects.  Each sausage in bread will cost $2.50 and sauce will be provided please note there will be no onions.  To ensure that we have enough sausages for all interested students, pre order slips have been sent home.  The closing date to pre order and pay for sausages is Thursday 7th

September.  Please note that late orders or orders on the day will not be accepted.

School Production

The excitement is growing for our students as our production dates grow nearer.  Classes have been very busy organising their scene, creating the characters and practising their dancing moves.   Most classes are now practising without the use of scripts to give the students time to add facial expressions and stage movement to their characters.  Script reading at home is a great way to help your child develop confidence and create their character.

As previously outlined, our production is held over two nights with the school split into two casts.  Please see the split cast list below as a reminder of what classes will be performing each night.  If you are unsure what night your child is performing, please see your class teacher for guidance.

Thank you for your support

A big thank you to all of our families who supported our Student Representative Council, who recently ran a book drive for the 123Read2 Me organisation.  The 123Read2Me program currently provides children in low socioeconomic communities with free quality children’s books through recycled books or new ones purchased with cash donations.

Our Clyde PS students and families donated a huge pile of books that will be passed on to the program.

Term 4 - Student Free Day

The Department of Education and Training has provided schools with the option to hold each teacher’s allocated professional practice day on the same day for all staff, similar to what occurred last year.  This is to enable the most effective and efficient use of this day.

As a result, we have scheduled our professional practice day for Friday 13th October (the day after our 2 Production Nights). Students will therefore not be required to attend school on this day.   Team Kids are operating on this day.

End of Term Friday 15th of September, early dismissal at 2.30pm

Beginning of Term 4, Monday 2nd October 9am
