Meet Our New Staff

David Arnold – Curriculum Development/Pedagogy Coach

I was born in Keith, SA but was raised in the outback of Queensland on a farm. When old enough, I moved to the NT to “earn my spurs” on a cattle station (Rosewood).  After completing my teaching credentials in SA, I travelled the world and fell in love with Canada and a Canadian. I have taught sporadically in many states of Australia, but most of my teaching and principalling has been in Canada. This year my wife (Dori) and I returned to the NT to assist with 21st century curriculum and pedagogy roll-out. We have been working in remote Indigenous communities but are excited to land in Alice, at St Philip's. The Discovery Centre will be my focus at school, but cycling and grandkids keep us busy outside. I am looking forward to getting to know you all. Please come up and say hello!

Renee McBryde - Counsellor

This term, we welcome a third counsellor, Renee McBryde to provide added support to our counselling team of Tim Donovan and Chloe McCarthy. Renee is a qualified social worker, has lived in town for ten years and has four children of her own. She is the author of two novels, “The House of Lies” and “Unravelling Us”. You may have seen her on the panel of Q & A earlier in the year.

Joanna Campbell - Aboriginal and Islander Education Worker

Joanna is a proud Wiradjuri woman originally from NSW but has been working across the NT and APY Lands in remote communities since 2014 with the Jimmy Little Foundation. Facilitating music therapy workshops in the community schools, as well as involving the whole community in production and performance of the students' music.  Joanna has been an Alice local for the past six years and is well connected in the local Indigenous community, having worked as an artist manager with CAAMA music, and multiple roles with Tangentyere Employment Services. Joanna has worked with students from kindergarten to Year 12, and with her experience, she endeavours to create further opportunities between our students and local businesses, and beyond.

Cathy Lambert – PE, Health & Science

Cathy has joined us to support our PE and Science departments. She hails from Nuriootpa in the Barossa Valley. For the past 14 years, Cathy was employed with Paralympics Australia in a variety of different roles including classification, equipment grant funding, talent identification and development coordinator. Her involvement with the Gliders, the National Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team, spans from 2016 to the present. Other sports include athletics and goalball (for blind or vision impaired athletes.) We’re very grateful to have Cathy with us whilst some staff are on long service leave.

Belinda Morris – Bridging

Belinda grew up in North Queensland and has lived in a variety of different places throughout QLD, NSW, NT and a stint in South Korea as well. Belinda finished her teaching degree after completing her final placement here at SPC. Belinda decided at the beginning of Covid that she needed a change, and having worked with schools in her job with the NRL she found she really enjoyed engaging with students. She's only been in Alice Springs for 18 months and the Territory for eight years and loves so many things about it. In her spare time Belinda loves hiking, camping and spending time with her daughters.

Billy Rees - Gappy

Billy comes to us from Ryde School with Upper Chine in Ryde, UK, located on the Isle of Wight. With his school being a member school of Round Square, Billy was spontaneously requested to volunteer and provide assistance at the Round Square International Conference held in Oxford, UK in September 2022. We had the pleasure of meeting him at his school, where he demonstrated excellent organisational skills and during his stay at St Philip's, he will undoubtedly be a valuable asset to our community.

We also welcome Molly Leonards – Boarding.

Welcome Back!

It's equally wonderful to see familiar faces return. The presence of those we know and have worked with before adds a sense of continuity and camaraderie to the team. Welcome back to:
