100 Days Brighter
scroll ->
Our AMAZING Foundation students have completed 100 days at school and we could not be more proud of them! The students had a special celebration on Friday, with the theme 100 Days Brighter.
The day began with some special 100 day activities, including decorating biscuits with 100's and 1000's. We then invited our Grandparents or special people in to share our treats with, discuss about their time at school and to show our fantastic learning over the past 100 days. It was so special to be able to have our visitors in after a few years of disruptions. We had an amazing turn out and the classrooms were buzzing. During the middle block, our buddies came to visit us and help us make our 100 day crowns - complete with sequins, glitter and gems. Our buddies are our preppies FAVOURITE people in the school and the day would not be complete without seeing them. Mrs Turner also took some time out of her busy day to read a special book about school.The afternoon disco was the absolute highlight for our students - they have some fabulous dance moves. A disco would not be complete without blue light and glow sticks!!
Thank you so much to our amazing Learning Support staff and parent volunteers who helped make this day possible for our little learners!

Green Team Newsletter Report
Last week the Green Team were very excited to be embarking on a new project, planting seeds in mini greenhouses. Mini greenhouses are a great way of maintaining the right environment for seeds to germinate. They replicate the controlled conditions used by professional growers in large glass greenhouses in a format suitable for school and home use. A mini greenhouse stays warm inside, even during the winter. In the daytime, sunlight shines into the greenhouse and warms the plants and air inside.
The seeds we decided to sow were sweet corn and zucchini. Firstly, we filled the seed tray with seed raising mix, next we watered the soil to ensure an even moisture level. We then placed three or more seeds into each of the tray's cells and covered them with a thin layer of potting mix and sprinkled the trays with water. Lastly we placed the lids onto the greenhouses, with the vents closed and moved them to a sheltered, sunny location outside. Hopefully by spring we will have some healthy seedlings ready to be planted in Brendan’s Garden.
It was harvest time for the Brussel sprouts. Brussels sprouts are large, quirky-looking plants that grow up to 1m (3ft) tall, with a leafy top and sturdy stem covered in small rounded green or purple sprouts. Claire, Paula and Sienna had fun pulling off the sprouts from the stem and couldn’t resist eating one raw. Paula declared it tasted just like a cabbage. Claire took her sprouts home to cook and eat. I can’t wait to hear how she liked them.
Here are some photos of the Green Team in action.
