Acting Principal's Report

Dear Parents, families and friends,

Welcome back to what has been a very cold start to Term 3.

We have had many updates from Mrs Carr.  She is having an absolutely amazing time with Andy and her family, she certainly has avoided the cold weather and is enjoying scorching temperatures.

Kelly Nash:

I would like to bring everyone's attention to relevant information for Kelly Nash and the Body Education Night on Tuesday, August 1st. (Please note the change of date, from Wednesday, August 2nd.)

Last year, we had the pleasure of working with Kelly Nash and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive from the parents that were able to attend her sessions.

These workshops are attended by children and their parents. They are an opportunity for families to discuss topics such as 'What makes bodies the same and different,’  ‘Naming parts of the body that are the same and different for males and females', and ‘Private parts and places, feeling safe in our bodies.’  These sessions are fun and informal.

Please book through Eventbrite (Follow the links below).

We found these sessions so valuable that we are covering the cost entirely this year.

Thank you to the many parents that have already secured their spots for these sessions.

Padua

We had the pleasure of welcoming two Padua staff members to St Brendan’s assembly.  Ms Tina Lunny and Dan Nisbet from Padua Tyabb.  They were here to award The Perseverance Award to one of our students.  Congratulations Abel Atkinson on receiving the very first Padua award.

Baby News :

It is with much pleasure that we announce the birth of Otis Haddock Brew.

The first son of Tess and Hamish.

Congratulations and welcome to the St Brendan’s community.

Carpark:

Just in case you missed last week's Audriri post:

We have had several parents raise some concerns with cars parking on the internal exit road.

At times, it is difficult to get children into the cars safely, and as we have no staff on duty in this area, crossing the road can present a safety issue.

We ask that cars DO NOT park on the edge of the internal road.  We will endeavour to have a barrier erected soon.

Alternatively, you could collect children from the junior or senior pick-up/drop-off zones.

We are very fortunate that these areas are well-supervised by teachers and clear quickly once the bell has rung.

You may also notice that we have blocked off the first car spot at the Senior crossing, near the gate, as a blind spot occurs when a car is parked in this spot.

We take all measures possible to ensure that all areas are safe for all at St Brendan's.

New Students

Yesterday we welcomed 4 new students.

Axel and Alizal N (Foundation R, 1/2 H)

Isabella and Alexis B (1/2 GR, 3/4 V), recently moved from Queensland- Welcome to not only the St Brendan community but also to the Somerville community.

I would like to mention Ellie B, Zac J, Archer Y and Abel A. They all did an outstanding job filling in for our School Captains during assembly.  They were certainly leaders in the making.

Have a lovely week.

Stay well and warm,

Bernie Turner

Acting Principal.
