Fishing at the Res

Fishing by Maggie S

On Thursday, we had a fishing session at the reservoir.

Some people came to help us. Their names where Cara & Dean.

We got into groups. My group was with Isobel, Isabel, Lydia, Lauren, and I.

It was FREEZING! Everybody got a chance to touch the fish. Isabel didn’t touch the fish, but they felt so squishy & slimy. I could feel it breathing. (I think).

Then we went back to school, ate some food then went out to play. After recess, we went back to the Res.

Then, we got into groups again. Olivia and I were partners. We almost caught a fish but it ate the bait and swam away.

Willow’s net got stuck on a tree and ours got stuck on a weed in the water. Willow, Olivia and I had to get a Cara & Dean.

I’m not sure anyone caught a fish but I am sure everyone had a fantastic time! It was an amazing experience & I think it improved my love of fishing. At first, I thought it was going to terrible because it was freezing but it was a blast & I hope to do it again. I thank Cara & Dean. They’re the best at fishing.

Fishing on Thursday the 15 of June

By Lucy R

Yes!! Our turn is coming up, yes!! Ok so we are releasing the fish now.  Can I touch it? We all take turns touching it they feel so slimy and slippery. We put them in the water and watch them swim away. Then we head back to school and go out for recess.

After recess we do reading for a bit and then we head back to go fishing. Mr Smith’s class go for a walk and we do some fishing. Yes!! I think I caught something…but it’s a tree fish. Wow! Soon after that I caught a stick and couple of leaves after that we did not go for a walk because Ms W had yard duty so we went back but over all it was a fantastic day I would really want to do this again.

On Thursday the 15th of June, my class went fishing at the Res.

Some people came to help us their names were Cara & Dean.

When the fish arrived, we got into groups. In my group, I had Sarah, Edith, Ida, Isla FS, & me.

When it was my groups turn to release them, they felt squishy & slimy. The fish we released were rainbow trouts.

Everybody got to touch a fish, I was scared to do it. I was shaky and felt like I was going to get bitten.

When it was time for us to go fishing, Maggie & I were partners. I caught a fish, but it ate the bait and swam away. It was freezing!

It was VERY hard to catch a fish. No wonder my fish swam away & no one caught a fish. (I think)

Willow’s rod got stuck in a tree & ours was in front of a weed in the water so that got stuck.

Willow, Maggie and I had to get help from Cara & Dean.

I’m not sure anyone caught a fish, but I’m sure they had a fantastic time!

Our fishing trip…by Isabel and Ruby

Our fishing trip was amazing and here is how it went…

On Thursday the 8th of June, we were going to see fish being released into the ‘Res’ and then do some fishing.

First when we arrived at school we talked about what we had brought, like jackets and spare shoes.

Then we started to slowly walk down to the Macedon Reservoir. When we arrived, we were counted and we were placed into groups of five. We then lined up in our groups. We had to be silent while the fish tank was lid was getting removed, as well as being quiet while it was happening. After all the groups had a turn of holding and feeling the fish, we slowly started to head back to school.

Then after snack we headed back to the Macedon ‘Res’ to try our hand at actually fishing with fishing rods. While 34VW for fishing we went for a walk to see all of the logging of the pine forest and the regrowth.  After the short walk we went to fish. Some people decided not to fish but they enjoyed watching and being outdoors. The people who fished, had a lot of fun.

Then we headed back to school. It was an amazing day.

Fishing 2023 by Josh

Last Thursday the grade three/four went fishing at the Macedon Reservoir. Everyone was VERY EXCITED!!! We started off by going to the Res.

When we got there, we met the Fisheries Officer. His job is to make sure everyone is taking the right number of fish home. Then we listened to Cara who talked to us about fishing. After Cara talked to us, she said Dave was coming to let out all the fish. There were 500!

The next thing we had to do was make a group of five to take it in turns to let out the fish. After about 10 minutes we had to go back to school while the fish got used to the Res.

When we came back, we had to get into groups of two. Then we got the bait and we were ready to go. Now everyone was PUMPED! A couple hours later we were done but no-one caught any fish. Still, it was an EXCELENT, SUPER, AMAZING DAY!!!!

Thank you to all the parents who came along to help out. Thank you to Mr O and Cara for organising the fishing day.
