Then & Now

Here’s a picture of a young Karyn Adams. This picture was taken in 1976 when Karyn was a Year 10 student and was celebrating her last day at North Albury High School.

In this era, many people left school at the end of Year 10 to seek employment or further industry related training. Following her time at North Albury High School, Karyn spent 12 months at secretary school, learning the skills needed to be the kind, caring and efficient office administrator that she now is.

Karyn left Albury when she was about 18 and moved to Healesville, and she’s been here ever since! She knew a few people in Healesville and according to Karyn, ‘the parties in Healesville were great…there was one every week.’

So, the parties led Karyn to Healesville. Makes sense, I guess. Karyn confessed to going to an underage blue light disco at the Memorial Hall. Not such a big deal, many of us have done the same, the only thing is, at the time she wasn’t underage…

Although she came for the parties, her family and friends have kept her here. She met her husband-to-be a couple of years after arriving and has raised her two grown boys in this town. Karyn’s grand children live in Healesville and she has lots of fabulous friends here.

And perhaps most of all, even though coming to work isn’t always as fun as the parties of her youth, Karyn loves spending time at Healesville High School.
