Principal's Notes

Hello everyone

I hope you enjoy this edition of ‘Healesville High Connections’. We are pleased that ‘Connections’ allows us to share some of the exciting achievements of our students. It also tells us more about several staff members and students, through the Five Questions, and the answers are so often enlightening.

Congratulations to this week’s stars – Otis, Charlotte, Tyler, Celeste, Zoe and Kirstie.

Thank you to each of the contributors to this edition. I especially enjoyed reading about the Year 9 students who spent all of term one at the School for Student Leadership, Gnurad Gundidj campus. This program is incredibly challenging and equally, incredibly rewarding for the students involved and I hope we will be able to offer this opportunity to our students for many years to come. A grateful thank you to Mr Holland for introducing this program to our school and to Mr Biffin for assisting him this year.

The ’Then and Now’ article in this edition makes for very interesting reading. Karyn Adams is an interesting person with whom to work so it should be no surprise that the article about her would also be interesting!

Karyn is a wonderful employee as she always does her very best to assist students, parents and staff members. She is a ‘no nonsense’ person, practical and reliable and those are valuable qualities in the busy environment of the school general office.

As mentioned earlier, I always enjoy the Five Questions as they give an insight into the teachers and students who so kindly provide their answers. Who else but Mr Fritzlaff, when asked ‘What is your favourite time of day?’ would have offered in answer- ‘The blue hour’? And Laura Henderson shows a very practical approach to choosing her favourite season!

As I have mentioned so many times previously, thank you sincerely for the goodwill, support, flexibility and care being shown by so many members of our school community.

Although COVID restrictions have eased significantly, the challenges of a COVID environment still exist and are being felt by staff members, students and parents. Those challenges are eased somewhat though, by the supports and the care which are continually on show.

Best wishes everyone.

Allan Rennick
