Around The Primary

Dear Parents

We had an action-packed day at school today with our celebrations for Primary House Day.

Our Year 3-6 students commenced the day with a beautiful Mass and the younger students participated in prayerful reflections in their classrooms. The students are to be congratulated on the reverent way they conducted themselves during the liturgies. Special thanks to Ms Allen for preparing these liturgical celebrations.

Throughout the day, the students were reminded of three important points:

Belonging - we all belong to a House and need to be proud of the House we belong to

Becoming - to be the best person you can be

Believing – in yourself to achieve your personal best

The students had lots of fun with friends and the staff and displayed exceptional behaviour and good manners throughout the day.

Next Friday 10 June, the students from Year 1 will be hosting our first Assembly for the year! All parents are welcome to attend at 9am in Roncalli Hall. Please come along and don’t forget to wear your parent badge.

The long weekend has certainly come at the perfect time. Please use this opportunity with your children to slow down a little, enjoy the company of family and friends and recharge the batteries for the remainder of the busy term.

Kind regards

States of Matter

Our Year Three students have been busy in Science learning all about the states of matter. They have learnt that heating and cooling a substance can cause both reversible and irreversible changes between the states of matter.

To put their learning to the test, students conducted an exciting experiment to create their own ice-cream in a bag. They worked collaboratively in small groups, hypothesised and analysed their delicious results. This was a fun way to demonstrate that by cooling a liquid, we can turn it into a solid!

Sports Update

Cross country

It has been wonderful to see so many students and parents at cross country training this week.  The inclusion of ‘the mound’ has proved to be a popular addition and makes our sessions a bit more like a cross country run!  No need to sign up for Tuesday or Thursday mornings, just turn up with your sneakers.

Year 5 & 6 Winter Sports

Year 5 & 6 students enjoyed their first masterclass sessions in soccer and hockey this week.  Coach Adi (J&J Football, and Technical Director of Subiaco AFC) and Al Murray (WAIS hockey player and U21 National team) put our soccer and hockey teams through their paces!

Thank you to all the parents who have given consent for our upcoming match against Newman College and for the Year 6 Winter Carnival.  Please remember the safety equipment for your child’s sport - they will require these each Thursday for the rest of the term.
