Celebrating National Reconciliation Week at LNPS 2020

National Reconciliation Week is celebrated from the 27th of  May until the 3rd of  June.

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, students, teachers, families, communities, organisations and as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

By acknowledging and celebrating National reconciliation week we are striving towards a more just, equitable country by championing unity and mutual respect as we come together and connect with one another.

At LNPS all students will be acknowledging and celebrating Reconciliation week in the following ways:

  • Discussing the meaning of Reconciliation.
  • Exploring ways in which students at LNPS can create our own version of acknowledgement to  country.
  • Exploring Australia's history and the discussing the impacts this has on modern day.
  • Creating pieces of artwork to showcase togetherness using traditional and modern symbols and techniques to share with their classmates and school community.
  • Challenging ourselves to learn 50 Kaurna words. Why not try at home too?https://50words.online/

Look out for what we have learnt and created in the upcoming school newsletters.
