Learning at LNPS

Learning has quickly returned to normal across the whole school. It has been great to see students re-engage so smoothly back into the teaching and learning.

Our teaching teams have continued to be highly collaborative and have returned to our core focus of utilising data to inform teaching and learning.  Teams have revisited our student and whole school targets and have adjusted accordingly. Due to NAPLAN not being undertaken this year we are shifting our targets to be focussed on school based data.  We are predicting limited impact on learning outcomes due to the continuity of learning during the uncertain period last term.

This approach to reviewing targets is timely as our teachers are preparing to write Student Reports. Reports will be the same as previous years and will not be modified. As we had very strong attendance and online learning last term teachers are able to provide an accurate report on students learning. If you have any question in this area please speak to your child/rens teacher.

This week is National Volunteer Week and also Education Support Personnel Day over the weekend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers for the value that they add to our wonderful school and we look forward to having you involved with the school again in the near future.

To our support workers, thank you for working closely with our educators to support classroom learning, for providing the one-on-one support that some of our students so desperately need, for managing the front office and all administration  so effectively and for keeping our schools safe, clean, well maintained and welcoming places to be.

Finally, at the Week 3 Governing Council meeting it was supported that we continue with the current restrictions in place regarding  parents coming onsite. This decision will be revisited regularly in line with The Departments advice.

We appreciate the school communities understanding with this decision and appreciate how families have adapted during drop off and pick up.  Thank you everyone! With this restriction in place if there is a need to meet with teachers or leadership please contact the school and we will work with you to arrange a meeting that meets the needs of all parties.

City of West Torrens Food Scrap Recycling

Lockleys North Primary School is working with the City of West Torrens to encourage our school community to recycle food scraps into compost rather than sending this valuable organic material to landfill, where it is simply a waste.

The City of West Torrens provides a free kitchen caddy and a roll of compostable liner bags to West Torrens residents. Additional bags are available free of charge from the City of West Torrens Civic Centre and the Hamra Centre Library.

If you are interested in recycling food scraps using a free kitchen caddy and roll of bags, please complete the online form on the City of West Torrens website by Friday 12th June 2020.
