Catholic Identity and Mission

Feast of Pentecost

This Sunday we celebrate the Birthday of the Church. Pentecost occurred 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. On this day, the disciples were gathering to celebrate the Jewish tradition of End of Harvest, like a Thanksgiving Day, as they gathered together the Holy Spirit came down to them. The disciples had the Holy Spirit come to them in tongues of fire, and after this the disciples were able to hear and speak various languages they have never spoken or heard before. So from this day the disciples went out to spread the Good News of Jesus, hence the beginning of the Catholic Church and our Birthday.  On Friday, each child will receive a cupcake made by one of our Year 6 leaders. We look forward to celebrating as a school the Birthday of our Church.

Soup Making

This week we have begun making soup for Moore Street – Adelaide Day Centre for the Homeless. Every week for the next 16 weeks each Mentoring Group will meet to make soup that will be taken to help the more then 6000 homeless men, women and children living on our streets. We appreciate your generosity in donations of food to be used for the soup. Please look for your letters over the upcoming weeks through to next term.

Prayer for the Week

Lord, we pray for Reconciliation:

That the wrongs of the of the past may be recognised,

That our awarenesses of the journey so far be awakened,

And that the Spirit move us to walk the talk and see through what has been started.  AMEN
