Positive Parenting

It takes a village

When my kids were growing up we had a 'Spontaneous Box' in our house. Our spontaneous box was just a shoe box. As a family we wrote down all the things we loved to do the most in our spare time on small pieces of paper. It may have been eating chocolate paddle pops at the Who'd-a-thought-it Lookout, a bush walk through the eye of the needle near Murrurundi, a trip to the movies, a fun activity in Tamworth or a simple trip to the park.  Every now and then on a quiet Sunday morning we would find the shoe box and draw out a piece of paper which would then determine an activity for the day.  We loved the suspense of what the box had instore for us.                                     Kate Thompson

What will you put in your shoe box?

We would love to hear from our parents and caregivers, if you have any great ideas to share about positive parenting.
